Dragon Age Trailer: Welcome to Haven, Now Clear Off
by Alice O'Connor, Aug 21, 2009 10:40am PDTWelcome to Dragon Age's city of Haven, which, like every other fictional city named Haven, conceals some manner of dark secret whose resolution will require bloodshed.
BioWare's RPG Dragon Age: Origins will hit PC and Xbox 360 on November 3, with the PlayStation 3 release later in the month. A free piece of downloadable content worth $15 will be included with new copies, presumably to make used copies unattractive.

DA looks as good, if not slightly better than ME1. Not as good as ME2, but as good as ME1. Definitely, definitely better than the Witcher or NWN2, and most certainly any MMO on the market. Name a MMO that comes close. The only sane comparison might be Age of Conan, but that is still vastly inferior.

And that's the stuff that stands out the most, especially when they insist on doing so many close-up shots.
The textures on the skin look too pale, too flat, insufficiently shaded... If they could just drop in a filter to make the *people* look a bit more lifelike it would help immensely.
Anyway, it looks like much of the actual gameplay is viewed some distance from the characters themselves, so maybe the devs didn't think it would matter as much? When you're doing the cinematics in the game engine... it matters.

This ad reminded me a lot of Oblivion. Is this Oblivion with blood?

I was so excited when this game was announced, but I'll certainly give it a miss when it's released.
