The Beatles: Rock Band Albums Priced and Dated; Upcoming RB2 DLC Includes Queen, White Stripes

Major Harmonix-related announcements have just been unleashed from GamesCom.

The company has priced the downloadable Abbey Road album for The Beatles: Rock Band at $16.98 (1360 Microsoft Points). The album hits on October 20, with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band to arrive in November and Rubber Soul in December. "All You Need Is Love" will be available as a single for $1.99 on launch day, September 9, on Xbox Live exclusively. Other platforms will get the song later.

Harmonix adds that "purchasers of the full album download of Abbey Road will have the option to play the famous 16-minute B-side medley as a single continuous track."

Furthermore, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos revealed that the following bands will soon be featured as Rock Band 2 DLC: Queen, Nirvana, Tom Petty, Elton John, Iggy Pop, The White Stripes, Pantera, Talking Heads, Korn, and The Raconteurs.

I gotta say, people probably like squeals more then DLC. The casual market that eats this kind of game up is pretty scared of DLC and that's why you don't see lots of DLC coming from the GH camp. Also because they like getting more money per song.

That said, I think after about every 80 songs (minus the RBN stuff) there should be a track pack and have it exportable to RB2. This will keep people walking around the local shops going holy crap another RB pack with 80 more songs. That will probably ramp up their sales and make them even more insane amounts of money with this franchise. Keeping the RB name in physical form will take up shelves of space, but prove how awesome the RB selection of music is to many more people.

I have a question about the Beatles game that I'm hoping somebody knows something about.

Are you going to be able to import songs into it and use it as a platform in the same way that you can use RB2 as a platform for regular rock band songs?

I gotta say, I'm pretty disappointed that Beatles RB has less songs than any of the previous titles has shipped with, combined with DLC that is already scheduled and priced.
