Section 8 to Support PC Hosting of Xbox 360 Servers
by Nick Breckon, Aug 12, 2009 11:45am PDTTimeGate Studios today announced that its upcoming shooter Section 8 will allow players to host Xbox 360 servers on PCs.
The servers will support up to 32 Xbox players at once, resulting in one of the larger Xbox 360 multiplayer shooters. Without a dedicated server, Section 8 only supports 16 players on the console.
On the PC side, running the game on a dedicated server will allow for 40 players, with the max knocked down to 32 when moving to peer-to-peer.
Section 8's multiplayer component is an ambitious team-based game that's receiving comparisons to Tribes--which is quite a compliment. Might be worth checking out.

Perhaps if we as PC gamers just TOLD everyone that they would enjoy their game much more (and the way it SHOULD be) if they just played it on the PC in the first place?
Just saying.

Anyway, I love the idea of being able to host servers for consoles on the PC. Server-side mods (even server-side map hosting, if they are wise enough to allow this) can be so much fun and add a lot of longevity to a game.
When is this game due to arrive?

It did some cool things, like missions and events happening while the game was going, but it was really hard to do those things, because you were concentrating on attacking or defending a point.
The game had a built in aimhack which was also really annoying.
