Modern Warfare 2 Getting Two Map Packs 'At Least,' Depends on Community Feedback
by Chris Faylor, Aug 11, 2009 12:35pm PDTFollowing a statement from publisher Activision that seemed to indicate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would only receive two downlodable map packs post-release, developer Infinity Ward has clarified that it plans to "heavily" support the game.
"The fact that we confirmed at least two map packs doesn't mean there won't be more; honestly we plan on shaping our DLC based on community feedback from the full game, and first two DLC map packs," Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling told MTV Multiplayer. "The community will really determine what comes after that."
More details regarding the map packs--right now, all we know for sure is that the first two Xbox 360 before any other platform--are likely to remain under wraps until after the anticipated shooter hits PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 10.

I just dropped $10.00 for the COD: World at War - Map Pack 3 and will probably only ever play the new Zombie Factory map. That said, at least the other maps are good assuming I feel like jumping into other game modes. Halo 3 is a far worse offender, with every map pack they release having one bare-bones map (intended for Forge use) that is fairly useless to a large portion of the community of players.

How many maps does the game even ship with? I would bet it's a low number to make these DLC packs more appealing.
