Alan Wake Hitting Xbox 360 First, PC Later?
by Chris Faylor, Jul 07, 2009 8:37am PDTIt's beginning to look as if Remedy's long-awaited "psychological action thriller" Alan Wake will debut first on Xbox 360 and the promised PC edition will follow at a later date.
"We're focusing all our efforts on the 360 version and will be making comments in regards to the PC at a later in time," Remedy rep Markus wrote on the studio's boards.
Publisher Microsoft revealed a "spring 2010" release for the Xbox 360 edition during E3, but made no mention of the PC version at that time. Alan Wake was originally announced for PC and console in 2005, though an "official" release window was not provided until recently. We're checking in with Microsoft for more details, and will update accordingly.

I'm bitter about the console love even though I own a PS 3 and have quite a bit of fun on it. It just sucks we are losing all these companies who started on the PC.
Now that id has sunk ship I don't even know what to think anymore. Rage is a Teen game (no gore) and my life is fucking ruined.

Of course Remedy has a small team, and in no way can fully concentrate on both platforms. Since PC was the lead SKU for starters, maybe they have that under the wraps already, and now they concentrate on optimizing the 360 version. Naturally it will launch first on 360, but that's nothing new these days.
Or maybe it'll be Windows 7 + DX11 showcaser (as it originally was supposed to be Vista exclusive optimized for quads) lol who knows...

- Halo 3 (Their biggest title, didn't even come)
- Fable II
- Forza 2
- Gears of War 2
This is why I don't think MS will bring Alan Wake over.

Calling it now...
PS3/PC ports later with the only PC caveat being DX10/11 support and everything else the same with console HUD elements (such as huge fonts meant for TV viewing at a distance, etc), letterboxed widescreen, cramped FOV and poor keyboard/mouse support.
I fucking hope i'm wrong, but these days, I wouldn't be surprised. Money hats are on the conslols now.

I realy hope that Alan will be aWAKE, ok cheap joke ;-), till a PC release. I also can remember that during a technical presentation some Remedy guy talked about how cool the new Intel multicore processors can be used to simulate the effect. Damn I got one of those and want to see it myself.

Those presentations made it very clear the game is much more console focused and akin to a standard surviaval horror, level-based title now, than the more simulated, open world, psycological suspense/adventure game premise of the title - circa its 2005 announcement.
Fuck it, Dude. Let's go bowling.
