Trine Available for Steam Preorder: $30, Includes Bonus Copy of Shadowgrounds

Following the release of an impressive demo for Frozenbyte's very attractive action-platformer Trine, the PC version is now available for preorder on Steam.

Trine will cost $30 on the service--as opposed to the reported $40 retail pricetag--and will include a free copy of Frozenbyte's co-op, run-and-gun shooter Shadowgrounds as a preorder bonus.

A PlayStation 3 version of the title is expected to be released in weeks, while Atlus is planning to bring the downloadable game to Xbox 360 later this year.

As for the release date of the PC version, publisher Nobilis yesterday announced a July 3 release date, though some retailers are still listing the European retail version for July 10. Shacknews has contacted Nobilis and Frozenbyte for comment on the confusion.

Ouch. The demo was great but $30 is pretty steep for a game like this. Is it going to be the same price on PSN?

I might just wait now and see if they do add in online coop in a patch, or a steam sale weekend :/

I've never bought a game on Steam before -- if I buy/download it, can I play it if I am on my laptop on an airplane, for example? Or would I have to have an active 'net connection in order to play it each time?

Also, what are your thoughts on the Metaboli service? I saw that when you exit the Trine demo you get redirected to the Trine order page there... how is their service in comparison to Steam's?

I loved the demo, had a hard time getting the controls to do what i wanted on a gamepad...wtf.

I'm waiting for PSN, seems a lot better to platform with a controller.
