Tales of Monkey Island Trailer Excites

Who wants to see more Tales of Monkey Island? Why, everyone of course! Fearful of the chattering mob, Telltale Games has released a trailer offering the first in-game footage.

LucasArts announced yesterday that Sam & Max--itself once a LucasArts adventure title--developer Telltale would be reviving the classic adventure series, while LucasArts focused on revamping the game's first entry, The Secret of Monkey Island.

Tales of Monkey Island is to be released in five monthly episodes on PC, with the first due July 7, then later for the Wii as a WiiWare downloadable title. Pre-orders are now open, offering a DVD release with cover art by the wonderful Steve Purcell.

The humor seems to be gone here. Without Ron Gilbert you can tell the series suffers, as the game have gotten progressively worse. Monkey Island 1 and 2 were legendary. Part 3 was great (curse) Part 4 was average/good (escape).

The jokes in this trailer fall completely flat. I hope this doesn't suck.

I don't dig the art style.
But it seems like they captured the humour of the old adventures pretty good.

I'm just extremely glad we don't have to wait long for the first episode. I think all developers should announce games a month away from release.

But I'm sure that's bad for marketing, etc, etc.
