Metal Gear Solid: Rising Announced for Xbox 360

Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima himself today announced that the traditionally stealth-action Metal Gear Solid series is headed to the Xbox 360.

The next title in the franchise, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, was announced to be in development for the console. The game will center around Metal Gear character Raiden, with a subtitle of "Lightning Bolt Action."

"I can promise you that it is a completely new Metal Gear experience," said Kojima, who then noted that he couldn't say anything more about the game.

Update: Konami's official announcement for MGS: Rising bills the title as the first MGS game "to launch on the Xbox 360," but does not refer to it as an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Anyone else think that you will not be playing Raiden in the game? Raidens eyes were blue in MGS4....the little girl Sunny's eyes were brown/orange. The face does look a little more feminine than Raidens....MGS:RISING ....... RISING Sun........Sunny

This seems like something Kojima would do, Raiden could be some sort of mentor in the game or something.

OR it could just be a straight up spinoff with Raiden......

Something tells me this is going to be a scaled down spin-off or something. A "new Metal Gear experience" could turn out to be very good, but at the same time this could basically be an exclamer to say "sorry this isn't Metal Gear 5 and won't be as epic as MGS4." I don't think they want this thing to be spanning 6 DVDs or so. But whatever its Metal Gear so they like have my $60.

At least it won't have the retarded act installs though.

Kind of weird that they are throwing Xbox users into the universe without any previous knowledge of the past games. It would have been nice if Xbox owners could have played MGS4 first, even though it's after the events of MGSR.

It's like if they tossed Halo 4 on the PS3 expecting PS3 owners to already know what is going on in the Halo universe.

Oh well. Whatever happens with exclusivity, I own both systems. The best way to purge fanboyism.

I own both consoles and I will never understand why people get so upset at games losing exclusivity. Surely if you love the game/series so much you will want as many people as possible to also enjoy that experience.
