Atlus MMO Neo Steam Enters Open Beta

The Atlus Online-published, JoyImpact-developed PC MMORPG Neo Steam: The Shattered Continent today entered open beta, with the official website providing new registrants with immediate access to the client for the fantasy-steampunk game.

Open beta sign-ups will last until June 8, with Atlus Online noting that "all beta characters will automatically roll over to permanent accounts at the game's commercial launch." No confirmed date on that commercial launch, though it'll happen in "weeks."

Because it's Atlus, I'll check it out.

But asian MMOs have a huge hurdle to clear. (I've played Ragnarok and Dofus)

I got a Golden Ticket pre-beta the other week, installed, and played it for all of... 30 minutes? It's.. meh, nothing special at all. ANd yes, the inevitable comparison to WoW is there, and it doesn't measure up (naturally). I'm just patiently awaiting the 40K MMO, it will be DIFFERENT. And hopefully good.

steampunk? sweet. nice to see any step away from ultra-generic fantasy, even if it is a small one. guess i'll give this "open beta" a try.

it's a shame how mmo success relies so strongly on word of mouth, when all anyone has to say is how much it is or is not like World of Warcraft :/
