Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper Demo Arrives
by Chris Faylor, May 22, 2009 9:53am PDTNow available on FileShack is an 872MB demo of Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper, allowing you to sample the latest PC adventure game out of Frogwares.
As the game's title implies, it pits one of the world's most famed detectives against one of history's most notorious killers. It's the fifth of Frogwares' Holmes games, which have seen the old-timey gentleman face off against such foes as a mummy and Cthulu.
Now available to purchase and download from The Adventure Shop for $19.99, Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper (PC) arrives on North American store shelves next week at the same price. An Xbox 360 edition, ported by Spiders, is also in the works.

Why do I need InstallShild to get updates every time my computer is started????????
ANSWER Frogwares, ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
++ Acting out the crime and gathering clues based on that
+ Setting feels natural for this time
+ Language used fits the year and story
- Each basic NPC has one line of speech to deny talking with you
- Stiff animation and movement
-- Predictably repetitive if all investigations are similar
I don't see a lot of hours in this title after playing the demo. It can be fun gathering clues and basing your facts on them, but if this is all you do all game it will bore pretty soon. The Demo isn't bad, but doesn't raise any desire to play the full game.
