Batman Video Details FreeFlow Combat System

Every Batman work is going to feature a scene where Batman is surrounded by five or six thugs. How Batman deals with this ring of thugery often distinguishes each of the Batman adaptations. Does he drag them through the mud, or dance around them on ice skates?

In this video, Batman: Arkham Asylum game director Sefton Hill shows us the "FreeFlow" system, which lends the game a level of action more in line with fan expectations.

Arkham Asylum is due out on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 by mid-September.

Jesus Christ. First Bionic Commando, then Street Fighter 4, now this. Finally, the PC is getting some lovin! I think my favorite thing about this game is that when you switch from target to target, there's no abrupt stop in the animation. It flows smoothly from attack to attack like Soul Calibur. He even canceled the beat down on one guy to attack another and it looked like it was scripted that way. Bravo.

I hate this game because I want to play it so bad, but if my 4 year old son (who is insane over Batman) finds out I have it he'll be heartbroken that I won't let him play it or see it.

Something like that happened with the Wolverine 360 demo. I didn't know how gory it was at first and made the mistake of letting him know that I downloaded it. When I told him he couldn't see it you'd think I had rounded up his favorite books and toys and burned them in front of him.

So what The WItcher did basically, minus the slow-motion effect. It worked great in The WItcher though. I still think this doesn't look very good in this game. It still looks and feels too "slow" for a character like this.

I want Ninja Gaiden-type speed.
