"We've already stated it'll be a brand new franchise, which means the lore, art, and game play are being developed entirely from scratch," said Blizzard community manager Zarhym on the World of Warcraft forums, in a post noticed by Worldofwar.net.
Zerhym referred to the new MMO as a "shell of a game thus far." Blizzard has previously said that the title is being developed using the World of Warcraft engine for testing purposes.
"It's an overwhelming process, but a process through which we excel," added Zerhym. "Our track record supports this."

They will use the exact same mechanics as WoW, because it rakes in cash for them.
- Gear centric.
- Little overall story.
- Raid/pvp/or die
- 2.5 years between meaningful content updates.
And fanbois will lap it up.

And first to say it'll probably suck ass as Blizzard only seem to be good at leeching off current IP now.

Buy bigger and better galleons, plunder entire towns, raid haunted castles.
It would be amazing.

I wouldn't be surprised if they announce something like "World of Popcap" (metaphorically or even literally speaking) or some such

Wow 2.0 will not be a MMO in common sense it will be something different.
I expect Blizzard is going to make it even more casual to get more players and they will probably create something that will appeal to the general public more instead of the people who have grown up with games.
Game is fun for all; it’s only that you need experience to play some of them. But what one can call entry level games or beginner games like small flash games and Wii games is playable be people with no experience inside gaming. I think it is this people blizzard will try to create a product for. Some kind of blend between face book and flash games only as easily used as you internet browser. Of course this has been done but to create a brand and a game out of it is where the money is.
But of course Blizzard might instead try to get a better hold of the hardcore instead, with them bitching about this and that all the time and trying out alternative MMo’s at their releases, though they come back it is still a treat to Blizzards domination of the market.
(would be fun if all these MMO wannabes joined together and combined their experiences though to create something special. (but this would require super game companies and the market is not big enough for that yet.)

Every time I die, I want a close up of Uncle Phil throwing me out of the mansion.
What the hell is a massively multplayer online?
Plus, you get to say "mog" whenever you describe it, which is also the adorable fluff-guy from Final Fantasy 6.
MMOG is just better in every way.

Blizz shut that shit up with the expansion pack pretty quickly.
What's next to dominate?
I would have hoped they used what they did with Starcraft: Ghost. A massive PVP mmofps set in that world with have been awesome.
