Fuel Trailer Sells GPS Supremacy
by Nick Breckon, Apr 23, 2009 11:47am PDTThis trailer for Codemasters' upcoming racer Fuel asks us all, "Wouldn't it be better if your GPS machine created glowing arrows in the sky?" They expect an answer in the affirmative, but consider first how dreadfully embarrassing those arrows would appear during a trip to the theater. Far too arcadey for people of high class. Minimaps are surely more prudent in style.
Fuel is looking at a release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 during the second quarter of this year.

I'd rather have them grey with a tad blue at a transparency of maybe 50%.
Anyway, I just watched all the videos yet again. Wow I really can't wait for this game to come!
One of the few racing games I actually get to buy.
The atmosphere looks awesome and the fact that it's all open world is just great.
I wonder how long races usually are. 3mins? 6? 10+mins?
I'm more of a shooter, rpg, rts guy because racing games can be so repetitive, but this one looks promsing.

didn't Peter Molyneux say that the point of the "bread crumb" trail was to get your eyes focused on the game, instead of the minimap? this game has the breadcrumbs and the minimap and a ton of other useless shit on screen.

Well, time will tell. But it really annoys me in these Fuel videos.
I admit that I am used to the minimap in burnout and typically crash when looking at it sometimes, thus making me memorize tracks, but I am not certain of this. I think I would rather have an arrow pointing in the direction to go instead of the blinking.
Actually the blinking arrow on the track was nice, but once you go off track the combination of the blinking arrow pointing you back to the track a long with the blinking arrows on the track is something I didn't like
