Anyone have any recent experience trying to negotiate with DirecTV as a new customer? I like their current offers, but I think I can probably get more. Was curious if anyone had any success already?

Not sure exactly how much leverage you have as a new customer. Maybe tell them you are torn between getting DirecTV and cable - that might help a bit.

I'm a former Dish Network Customer, and a current Comcast customer. I wouldn't be lying in saying that I'm debating about staying w/ Comcast, going to Dish Network, or becoming a DirecTV customer. I prefer going to DirecTV because of their HD Channel selection.

sure there's a few tricks you can pull. The best one (and least painful) is a $10 off/mo discount through AAA for 2 years, that adds up to $240. A AAA membership is about $50 so it's definitely worth it. You can also get $10 off for 5 months if someone refers you, I can do that if you want and I'll also get $10 off for 5 months :)

note that these all stack together. I paid $35/mo for my first 6 months, then $45 for the next 6 after that, for their $75/mo service (Choice XTRA + HD + DVR).

Ive actually had bad luck, was quoted a great deal, then few days later I get in the mail my bill with the prices about $30 more then the rep quoted me. Called them and bitched them out, and cancelled, then I signed up a few weeks later and just doing it all online.

Happy with the service and now I cant live life without a hddvr.
