Puzzle Quest: Galactrix Dated, Priced on Xbox 360
by Chris Faylor, Apr 02, 2009 10:54am PDTUpdate: The downloadable Xbox 360 edition of Puzzle Quest: Galactrix will run 1600 Microsoft Points ($20), a D3Publisher representative has informed Shacknews.
Original: Ending months of jealous glares at PC and DS players, D3 has announced that Puzzle Quest: Galactrix will hit the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday, April 8.
Infinite Interactive's sequel to its addicting puzzle-RPG Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, Galactrix brings the block-matching series into the sci-fi realm, complete with spaceship battles, space pirates, and the effects of zero gravity on said blocks.
PC and Nintendo DS editions of Galactrix arrived in late February, with downloadable Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions then slated for "early 2009." Still no word on a release date for the PS3 version, other than the vague "spring" timeframe.

Interface is sloppy, clunky, and the timing puzzles to open gates every 2 seconds (and they close back even) is completely nauseating and boring. Such a letdown, and I don't even know how that got through play testing.

the original was a lot better, and a lot more replayable.
it sucked that you spent a lot more time playing mini-games than the game itself.
and if they want to make the mini-games part of the game proper, then they should have included ways for your rpg stats to impact the mini-games.

I'm going to buck the trend here and say I am enjoying Galactirx (PC).
Is it as good as the first game? Nope. It definitely lacks the polish of the original, and the learning curve if much more steep. I almost gave up after the first few timed puzzles, like so many others. But I'm glad I stuck it out.
There are a ridiculous number of tactical options and strategy once you start crafting items. Even more than in the first game. I would say that it is a much more rewarding experience for a hardcore gamer... which surprises me since I would think they'd be chasing the casual market.
