I just love Half Life 2; and yet, there are parts I HATE HATE HATE so much... (We don't go to Ravenholm) for instance.
I think that the big question is: does the game have distinct memorable moments? Half Life 2 had plenty; that's why it's so awesome. (Bioshock did too!)
Crysis didn't. The gameplay mechanics is nice, graphics great, some nice ideas; but nothing burrowed deep in my memory. Play -> Finish -> Move on.
Hope FC2 will turn out nice for me.
