BioShock 2 Viral Site Launches

A new website connected to BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams has launched at www.somethinginthesea.com.

The site includes various evidence that seems to portray the kidnapping of a little girl by a creature with a helmet that emanates red light. Mysterious!

The newspaper clipping is dated February 20, 1967, while the original game took place in 1960. BioShock 2 developer 2K Marin has yet to confirm whether the game is a prequel or--as this clipping might suggest--a sequel.

BioShock 2 is set for release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC between August and October of this year.

The guy who writes the letter to the detective; could this be who your player/character is in the sequel? It only makes sense to have another separate but curious party discover Rapture and it's elements.

What would totally kick ass, though I'm sure this is impossible, is if throughout the course of this game and the sequel(s) the denziens of rapture begin to develop more computer technologies (like artificial intelligences and the like) and the end result tied it into the System Shock universe.

I know some people like to hate on the first one, just like people like to hate on GTA IV, especially after both having received numerous game-of-the-year awards, but I personally loved playing through Bioshock and eagerly await the new game. Hopefully Ken's departure won't effect the sequel/prequel negatively, and we can get a transition like God of War 1 and 2, where 2 was arguably better than the first (if slightly less original).

Leave a good game in peace! What made this game so good for me was a completely new feel for a 1st person shooter. Doing it all over again isn't going to be as fun.

This is going to be like Karate Kid 2 and that new straight to DVD movie Still Waiting (sequel to Waiting). Its going to suck!
