Puzzle Quest: Galactrix Hits Steam, Other Outlets
by Chris Faylor, Feb 24, 2009 2:04pm PSTAs the PC and Nintendo DS editions of Puzzle Quest: Galactrix head out to retailers today, various digital distribution outlets have begun selling the addictive puzzle-RPG.
Those looking to avoid the hassle of securing a retail copy can now buy and immediately download the $19.99 PC version from Steam, Gamersgate, Direct2Drive, and Impulse. In addition, a new trailer was released.
Developed by Infinite Interactive, the sequel to Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords will also arrive as a downloadable PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game in the near future. For those on the edge, I kindly suggest you check out the free PC demo

Gameplay is just like the first one but for the sliding of tiles depending on which way you join them up. It very much is a "luck race" type game. What I mean by that is that if you manage to obliterate your enemies shields and are about to give the coup de gras and all of a sudden you see "NOVA MEGA NOVA NEW TURN!" and your shields were just decimated and you are at half health.
Literally it is the random luck of the tiles and where they land that gets you the win or not. I went from full health and shields to nearly half health in one round, why? Random luck.
Another annoyance is the stupid hacking system. As you try to hack the jumpgate you get one or 2 tiles and they ALL start moving. The time doesn't stop when this happens it keeps on going, even if you had the next 3 tiles ready to go the timer still goes and you have to wait for the stupid system to stop clearing tiles until your move. Which, by the way, destroys the move you wanted to do. It's aggravating as hell.
All in all I'm enjoying this one too, it's fun, casual, and will suck up allot of my time :)
steam is installing it now.
I had a shitload of fun with the first one after buying it just recently in january...
This is actually my 66th steam "game"...

Jason Hill from The Age (A local newspaper) did a good write up of it.
