F.E.A.R. 2 Goes Gold, New Trailer Debuts

Monolith's spooky shooter sequel F.E.A.R. 2 (PC, PS3, 360) has gone gold, publisher Warner Bros. announced today, confirming that the game will ship on February 10.

With the game now in manufacturing, those eager to get an advance look can check out the PC demo that's now available on FileShack, with Xbox 360 and PS3 demos available for download through each system's respective online marketplace.

A new trailer, dubbed "Intel Briefing," accompanied the gold announcement:

I think this game will be way under-rated. If you remember, the AI in F.E.A.R. 1 was outrageously good. I am very much looking forward to this title.

I beat the original FEAR like 5 times (a record for me I think), and I still didn't know the plot of that game until it was just described to me in this trailer.

After viewing the difference in visual fidelity between the 360 and PC, and how smooth it ran on my Vista game box, I have a feeling this will be the game that gets me to lug the monster game rig downstairs to hook up to the big screen ;)

Good news about these games coming on out STEAM as well. I think that many people stopped pirating because of STEAM's simplicity. Could be wrong but Im waiting for the day when Valve shares some of the sales data so that people like Tim Schafer can develop adventure games again!!

I loved the demo. Proper, CLEVER tension and scares. Not flickering lights and jumping monsters, more like freaky and hard-to-target ghosts, stuff unexplainedly sucking down a hall, FUCKING FREAKY BITCH ALMA, weird flashbacks and scene switches, buckets and buckets of blood, and that falling train was so well done. Even the stompy mech bit was great since it was claustrophobic and those fucks were everywhere.

This game cannot come soon enough, my hype level went from "Cool, original was fun and this should be also" to "Fuck, this might just be great, these bitches have really honed this shit through making FEAR and Condemned"

F.E.A.R 1 on the PC was excellent, but I didn't like the 360 port. The F.E.A.R 2 demo (xbox 360) gave me chills and the action was yet again awesome. Must buy after that demo.

I just pre-ordered this. Got a nifty pre-order bonus too. It's Genevieve Aristide's journal with a whole bunch of notes from her and documents about ATC's projects. Oddly enough, there are some references to the FEAR Expansion Packs. I thought they weren't canon?
