Which program can I use to install this patch?
Please answer :)
It now doesn't look anywhere near as good as San Andreas did on a much lower spec rig.
My specs:
AMD X2 4600+ (2.41GHz)/4GB DDR2/Geforce GX285/XP SP3/Samsung SM2253BW 22" LCD
These specs run Far Cry 2 / the new FEAR 2 demo / Mirrors Edge / C&C Red Alert 3 on 1680x950 all settings maxed out with a nice smooth framerate. Come on Rockstar!!!!
I mean, it's a boon for stability and my framerate has definitely gone up, but at the cost at a *massive* increase in pop-in. Not only that, I can't max out the settings anymore - when I do, the game simply refuses to load any more models or textures even though it worked perfectly fine before I applied the patch. Considering the pop-in is the one thing I really, really wanted them to work on, a patch that makes it *worse* is definitely a no-go.
Maybe someone could find a tweak to fix it, but when I've got my non-patched copy working so perfectly well I see no reason to trouble myself so much.

However.. just as I was about to go for that lawyer job interview.. the game crashed my PC with no error.. just froze with the sounds repeating every second.
But I still like the patch, it seems to have improved fps quite substantially for me.

Not it's buttery smooth and stable. 19x12- High, Very High, Very High, High, Very High, 25-50-75-0 on Vista x64, 4GB, E8500 + GTX260. Great job R* =)
Its a real shame the game runs so badly my PC is a good setup, id still prefar to play it on the Xbox 360. Im am i Graphics whore but the game runs S*it on my/the PC.
Amd Phenom 9850
4 gigs DDR 800 Ram
Radeon 4870 512mb
vista 64
I no longer have to set the game's executable to Windows 2000 compatibility mode for the game to run on my Vista64 box (lol) and performance has improved significantly. I did notice that on first launch after applying the patch vsync is "on" in the game options menu, but I had to turn it off and then back on for the feature to actually work. Pretty minor.
This is the state I wish the game had been in when they released it, but at least they've finally patched it up properly.
The only problem I see is on my card the shadows still have weird problems. Other than that I am going to have fun going through the game again with no slowdown. I might even play some MP now that it runs better.
I can't help but think if rockstar had worked on it for 6 more months how much better it would be. It would be running on hardware lower than mine.
