Morning Discussion

Fallout 3 is fucking epic. I don't think people realize how dynamic and replayable this game is. I'm about 15 hours into my second playthrough of the game, and I can't believe how different it is. My choices, random events, even major set pieces have all been very different. Here's an example.

So, the first time I discovered GNR, I was playing a long range character. I arrived, fought through a horde of super mutants, which was tricky, because they kept rushing me. What I ended up doing was laying down mines, sniping them, and letting them run into my minefield. It worked very well. I eventually got to GNR, and there was already this huge fight brewing. I didn't have anything that could take down the behemoth, so I just whittled away at his health with grenades and mines and sniper fire at his head. Eventually I overcame, and went inside.

Second time through, I arrive and I'm greeted right out of the subway by sentinel lyons. Holy shit? So I fight with her, her squad and Charon, and we maul through the super mutants. Literally, they're all fire support and I maul mutants with my deathclaw gauntlet. So I get to GNR, clean it up and that's it. I wait around for a while, and then I hear a boom and the behemoth comes flying around a corner, holy shit. Well this time I'm ready, so I bust out my Fatman. My big guns skill sucks, so my first shot doesn't do a whole lot of damage. I only have one more nuke, so I have to make it count! I let it rip, and I completely fucking miss and nuke the brotherhood squad. It was fucking hilarious. So I get totally pumped up on chems and run out to beat away at the the shins of this beast when I find another fatman and a mininuke the brotherhood was carrying. I recover it and blow that giant off the face of the planet.

So fucking sweet, this game is brilliant.
