Microsoft Confirms Xbox 360 Hardware Update

Of course they will stick to the usual response, why would they bring into discussion the instability of their previous models?

"Buy a Jasper and your new games wont RROD your console anymore."

I don't think they want to draw attention to that, but it would be interesting to know if it really is more reliable.

For everyones information. You can use open source tools to clone to make your 360 memory stick act as a usb, and clone your savegames to your hdd to back them up. The *interesting* side effect is if you say, clone a Fable 2 account with a million gold, and trade it all to a friend, and load up your save again, and give them the gold again, then load it up, they give you the gold, you backup your stuff. Then you start doing it in bigger chunks. You keep doing that, bam you have a billion gold eventually. This can be used creatively for other games as well, that I will not go into detail about.

Anyway, point being, this is a major less known contributing factor as to why they're doing this direction.

Microsoft and Sony just can't stop dicking around with the hardware configuration. Variants, mandatory hard drive installs, mandatory firmware updates. The only thing they haven't touched is the amount of system memory and and the core microchips. When it came to consoles, a developer used to be able to count on a fixed platform. To hell with that I guess.

So they wait to confirm after Black Friday, of course?

i don't own an xbox, but a bunch of my friends do... so when we started playing castle crashers i made myself an xbox live account, this way i wouldnt have to start all over all the time...

every time i try to log in to a different xbox, i have to do the "recover gamertag" thing so it will let me log in, and then my castle crashers guys load up with no problem... i figured this would work for other games, like tigerwoods... but EA sucks and it doesn't, no big surprise there. i almost went out and bought an xbox memory card to transfer my golfer around :/ when they say they are replacing the 256meg external memory... they didn't remove the slot for it too, did they?

also... does the new Xbox dashboard happen to remove the need for me to use the "recover gamertag" thing all the time? we have basically stop playing these games anywhere but one persons house because of the annoyance of everyone trying to log in their live accounts...
