Ubisoft Confirms Tom Clancy Mega-Game
by Blake Ellison, Oct 17, 2008 5:00pm PDTUbisoft's Tom Clancy game series including Splinter Cell and GRAW are to converge and form one consistent universe with games that will interact in each other, according to a recent interview.
"In [later] versions [of Clancy games] you'll find, say, missions generated in the next Ghost Recon (presumably GRAW 3) affecting the world map in the next EndWar (presumably EndWar 2)," said EndWar (PC, 360, PS3) programmer Vinh-Dieu Lam on Australian site Gameplayer.
The rumors of a Tom Clancy "mega-game" started last year with a teaser website referring to the universes of Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell, and Ghost Recon. Ubisoft Shanghai's EndWar, the first Tom Clancy RTS, "acts as a basis for future tie-ins," according to Lam.
Earlier this year, Ubisoft confirmed it was working on a Tom Clancy MMO, which may also connect to--or play host to--the future Tom Clancy universe.

It reminds me of what was tried years ago with... Gods, why can't I remember the title? OK, there was a ground-based turn-based strategy shooter, kinda like X-Com but older. And then there was a 4X strategy game from the same company, and a space-sim. And if you had all three, you could use them to create one game, basically. You would work your empire in one, then when you got into a ship-to-ship battle it would switch to another, and when you landed to take a planet it would switch to that one.
FUCK. I don't remember enough about it to look it up...

Remember Rainbow Six, guys? That was a good game. I liked how after Raven Shield they just stopped.

So basically what they are saying is the universes will all follow the same plot and there will be crossovers seeing missions from one game from a different perspective in another game.
This actually pretty damn cool.
