Gears of War 2 Screenshots: Original vs. Sequel

Accompanying our in-depth look at Gears of War 2's multiplayer modes, publisher Microsoft has provided some new screenshots comparing the original Gears of War multiplayer maps to the remakes found in the Gears of War 2 Flashback Map Pack.

Left, Canals in GOW1. Right, GOW2 Canals.

A free one-time use code for the Flashback Pack will be bundled with all new copies of Epic's Xbox 360-exclusive sequel, which will be available on November 7.

This is cool, I like the updates, I like the impression of age. It seems like they're trying to take the art style in a direction: before, there was darkness; now there is life blooming. Maybe GoW2 isn't as depressing with regard to the futility of the storyline?

So just to be clear, by any new copy of the game they mean every copy that is bought new from release date and onward (which obviously means no used copies)? Or do they mean pre-orders and launch day copies.

From my understanding it's the first way I mentioned (any new copy ever) but I just want to be sure.
