Metal Gear Solid 4 Xbox 360 Rumors Crop Up Again in Japan

The persistent rumor of Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) coming to the Xbox 360 has appeared once more, this time on the other side of the pond.

IGN spotted a report from the Japanese branch of investment firm Morningstar (link is in Japanese) from last week's Tokyo Game Show, in which a PR rep from publisher Konami said, "Looking forward, we are investigating releasing a 360 version."

The last time the rumor popped up, it was met with stern denial from Konami: "For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game," said a PR rep.

A number of obstacles would theoretically stand in the way of a 360 release, including the sheer size of the game's Blu-Ray disc and its PlayStation 3-specific optimizations. However, during the game's development producer Ryan Payton stopped short of denying that a 360 version was being considered.

    First who cares if it comes to 360, I don't wanna watch a game that 3 hours cutscene and 1 hour game play. These rumors are stupid if Kojima wants money in which that's what most game developers want, it'll go multi. So if they want to sell to a few million stay exclusive, but if they want to sell to hundreds of millions then go multi. The 360 is the best choice out there cause even tho it's a brick they fight for their games whether its paying 40 mill to stop content from going to the PS3 for a couple months they do it, hands down 360 won but next gen is gonna go to PS if they're still around.

    If PlayStation 3 wants this 10 year lifespan or 3rd party developers to continue making games for it then it needs to sell consoles so people will buy games for it but if PS3 loses it's big exclusives that people are willing to buy a PlayStation 3 for...trouble!!!!!

    It's also a fair bit of money for a young person or someone short on money to pay for another console and accessories so when you buy a console many are stuck with it
