Punch-Out!! Wii Announced: First Screens, Video

Nintendo today revealed the existence of a new Punch-Out!! title for the Wii during the company's press conference in Tokyo, according to Wired.

The boxing title is expected to release in 2009.

The Punch-Out!! series has been dormant since the release of Super Punch-Out!! (SNES) in 1994.

im so glad i traded my wii for $600 worth of tarantulas...this trailer is appalling..im godsmacked..punch out is the only game that looks remotely interesting to me...but then of course you would need to actually box to play..how long do they think most gamers will last doing that for 30 minutes...that shit is tiring

Do you ever wonder why Nintendo doesn't cater to the so-called "hardcore" market?

Just take a peek in the comments for ANY Nintendo article... Hard core gamers are WHINY BITCHES.

What company in their right mind would want to cater to a demographic that is NEVER satisfied?

Ahhh those crazy trippy Japanese games ... Gotta love it. My roomate has a Wii, we never play it. Ever. Although I'm more of a PC gamer myself but the only time it ever gets busted out is for drinking games before we go out.

Hopefully they're working on the controls as a major part of the game. One would like to think that the addition of the "1:1"-thingy will make boxing hell of a lot better than the titles that already tried without it.

I love Super Punch-Out!!. Probably one of my favorite games of all time. This has gotta mean it's coming to VC soon.

I hope the controls translate better than the Wii Sports boxing stuff. I mean, I would certainly hope so, but you never know. Sometimes I think the motion controls just aren't refined enough to work for what developers would really like to push. I got this feeling in Zack and wiki a lot, especially with the sword fighting.
