Gears of War 2 Screenshots Get in Trouble

A new batch of screenshots from Epic's Gears of War 2 has found its way onto the internet, showing protagonist Marcus Fenix getting himself into a variety of dicey situations. Included are battles with bosses, other large monsters, and exploring environments ranging from buildings to underground caves.

Sporting a newfound love for casual gamers along with the usual "jock, fratboy, macho bullshit," the Xbox 360 exclusive shooter will reload and dive back into action on November 7.

I'm sick of Epic marketing their games with bullshots like these. Because of it, nearly every other shooter is made with their engine and most of them DON'T LOOK GOOD, AT ALL. Sure, some of it is down to poor art direction, but even games like Mass Effect could have looked so much better using a better engine. The character models were fantastic, but the shadowing and a lot of the lightning looked HORRIBLE. I mean apart from obviously being down sampled these screenshots look like they've had a ton of post-processing effects applied to them.

Is it just me or does the shot with the flamethrower look very wooden? Wasnt the 360 supposed to have shading capabilties which could, for example, make the metal on fenix's armor look different from say the wood?
