Anyone here play BTL1? We absolutely aren't Madden. No sim for us. Our arcade roots were the mantra during the entire project, and thousands of hours of playtesting to tweak the duration and pacing of the game to keep it balanced and each game unique and memorable.

One of the things we learned from focus feedback about that product was that the moment to moment, while interesting often pulled you out of the game. So we sped up the game (if you can believe it) and added numerous ingame mechanics that allowed the player to take control (hit targeting, break tackle, weather slips, etc). The injuries were always gratifying, so it made sense to extend the same 2D broken bones visuals to what you'd see any night of the week on CSI.

Injuries range from about 1-4 throughout most quickplay games. Enough that you feel powerful and bad-ass, but not so much you get sick of them and frustrated that they're coming up often. The game, while having numerous new features and modes within the game to bring you down on the field, is still the same length and fierce gameplay you'd expect if you were playing vs another human.

although i thought that the video was pretty graphic, i don't think it was over the top nor do i think it's taking it too far like most of these squeamish people think. It's a fucking video game, get over it. Since when did a video game have to represent what it really is or what 'should' be. Play an FPS for once. Plus you're talking about a title that for years did not at any point represent how football is 'really' played.

Looks like it just gets repetitive and annoying to wait for that animation to play. I mean, it's fast paced, and not about breaking bones. Well.

I think tasteless truly is the word. It was one thing when the series involved meaningless taunts and loud crunching hits, but this just takes it too far. Anyone involved in RL sport knows these are horrifying things you pray never happen. What was the development team smoking?

Can you turn that feature off because that's a game breaker for me. Call me squeamish or whatever but shit like that is completely unnecessary.

I wouldn't play this game if i was paid... watching those animations made me cringe and that says a lot.

What happened to the Blitz team at Midway over the past decade? It used to highly entertaining arcade-style football on N64. Now it's teenage pandering garbage.
