Activision Trademarks Dance Hero

Activision, publisher of the Guitar Hero music-rhythm series, has filed a trademark with the US Patent & Trade Office for Dance Hero.

The publisher, known to be expanding its music portfolio, has previously filed trademarks for DJ Hero as well as "Guitar Villain" and "Drum Hero" among others. A filed trademark does not guarantee that a game will be released and is only a reservation of the name.

Kotaku, which spotted the patent, supposed that if a Dance Hero game is actually in development, it may be along the lines of Konami's music-rhythm pioneer Dance Dance Revolution. Guitar Hero was heavily influenced by Konami's Guitar Freaks, which mainly stayed in Japan.
