Now available for download at FileShack is a free PC edition of The Suffering, Surreal Software's 2004 prison-themed survival-horror action game.

Now supported by advertising, publisher Midway's release of the game is meant to help promote the upcoming feature film of the same name.

Ok does anyone know how to open this file, i tried burning it to dvd and its just says its a file no extention. I can't open it . Ive downloaded it twice with the same results. Please help this is so agrivating.

is there some sort of setup for this? i downloaded the file unpacked it with some program and am just double clicking the unpacked exe file. then it crashes due to an 'engine error'. i'm using vista. any hints?

For some reason eset gave a virus warning when I dl'ed this, saying: "probably a variant of win32/statik application.". False I'm assuming, but I thought I should mention it.

I don't necessarily know about this game but I'll make sure to DL anyway.

I really think it would be cool if companies recognize they can generate more goodwill (translating to later sales) if they release games like this instead of letting them drift to abandonware. Maybe not every game (particularly as releases get up in size) but certainly a title every now and then helps.
