Electronic Arts Terminates Take-Two Takeover Talks

Electronic Arts is dropping its pursuit of Grand Theft Auto 4 publisher Take-Two Interactive, the company announced today.

Following months of hostile buyout offers by EA, the companies started talks under a confidentiality agreement last month.According to the announcement today, "EA continues to have a high regard for Take-Two's creative teams and products," however, "after careful consideration, including a management presentation and review of other due diligence materials provided by Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., EA has decided not to make a proposal to acquire Take-Two and has terminated discussions with Take-Two."

I love how they make it sound like they backed out cause TTwo didn't impress them enough. When TTwo clearly stated they never wanted it to happen in the first place.

Lol what a bunch of fuckin cunts. EA is definitely one company i'd love to see go down the drain. It'd be so glorious.

I wonder if EA is doing this for market reasons, like the fact that Merril Lynch just sold itself to BoA and Lehmans is filing for bankruptcy? They may see a weakening economy as a reason to hold onto their assets.

This is good news IMO. Of course you gotta wonder who EA has in their sights now. I honestly think they only pursued this because they were worried about no longer being the top dog of the third-parties.
