Pure Demo Appears Thursday on PS3, Xbox 360
by Chris Faylor, Sep 02, 2008 9:56am PDTA downloadable demo for Black Rock Studio's offroad racing game Pure will arrive for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners this Thursday, publisher Disney has revealed.
Available from the online PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Maketplace, the demo is set in the Italy-based Mount Garda track, with players competing in a three-lap race against 15 AI opponents.
Combining the trick-based speed boosts of EA's SSX series with the four-wheeled antics of Black Rock's work on ATV Offroad Fury 3 and 4, the full version of Pure hits PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall.

Stopped in at the local Gamestop after hearing they'd have a playable demo of Pure if you put a $5 deposit down for pre-order. Gave him the $5 and he gave me the disc. :)
Impressions: Blackrock Studios(makers of the ATV vs MX: Unleashed) have ATV racing dialed in. The demo gives you 1 course to get familiar with the controls/trick combos(all very easy to pull off btw) and then another course to actually race against a.i. racers.
Controls are tight and very responsive. Perfect imo. Default button setup is perfect and the trick system when doing jumps is intuitive and easy, nothing complicated. Black Rock kept it fun here.
The graphics are amazing. Everything is smooth, no hint of slowdown anywhere and from what I can tell, it seems to be 60fps. Lush foliage, waterfalls, water with sunlight reflections, huge jumps, amazing draw distance with no sight of pop in. Dust kicking up, haze, tracks being left behind in the dirt...the attention to detail Black Rock has put in nails the experience. I've seen my share of eye candy and Pure delivers in spades.
Sound is good. Nice rock tunes. ATV realistic sounds, etc. It's what you'd expect here.
The final game according to a video after the demo is finished claims 48 different tracks with over 100,000 variations on ATV customizations! Not to mention there's sure to be great fun via the Xbox Live matchups.
Not the biggest fan of Gamestop here but going in and throwing a $5 down for the demo was worth it.
So check it out if you can!
