Jagged Alliance Revived on DS
by Blake Ellison, Aug 26, 2008 2:30pm PDTJagged Alliance, the 1990s cult-classic tactical turn-based PC RPG from Madlab, is getting a revival for the Nintendo DS next year.
Jagged Alliance DS invites players to liberate the fictional island of Metavira using the non-linear gameplay that the series has been known for since its 1994 debut. Jagged Alliance 2, the 1999 sequel, is available on Valve's Steam digital distribution service.
"The time is right to bring its frenetic battles to Nintendo DS and allow a brand new audience the experience the exhilarating game play," commented Strategy First marketing VP James Spice.
Cypron Studios, fresh from work on the DS strategy game Command and Destroy, will develop Jagged Alliance DS. Strategy First will handle publishing and the game will hit shelves sometime in 2009.
