Taking Stock: The Gibson-Goldstein Index
by Nick Breckon, Aug 18, 2008 3:26pm PDTAn overwhelmingly positive week. How annoying.
PC Platform Perception
Computers used more often for gaming than any other platform. If only the users had some gaming money left after their WoW subscription.

The problem I see is finding the time to play games when having work and gf to spend time with to. I play some WoW still but the fact that it's the most time consuming game so far I can't play it enough. I fall behind, and if you fall behind in WoW you will never catch up. You die in 3 hits from people with full epic gear, nobody wants you in a group or guild because of your bad gear.
I'm really looking forward to playing something else, like Spore, which will come out on the same day I get home from my honeymoon, and by that time I'm unemployed. Also, Little Big Planet will come out in October, and of course there is Fallout 3. I'm septical about Fallout 3, I will play it tough and hopefully I will like it.
I will always find the money to spend on a new game. If I could just find the time to play them...

Luckily, the one technical advantage consoles have had since late 2005 - better graphics for the majority of people playing it - is finally ending as more and more PCs with decent video cards are sold and more people play more graphically demanding games. But don't be surprised when in 2-3 years people are saying PC gaming is dying again as the new consoles with far improved technology are released.
Until then, just ride it out and have fun as developers do better with PC gaming for the next 2-3 years than they did in the last 2-3.

To all the developers who have been bad mouthing PC gaming. Your games are feeble. That's why no one is buying them. Fix the problem. Stop with the MMORPGS\monthly fees while your at it.
