Wipeout HD Delayed by 'Tricky Technical Problem,' Hopefully Due By Year's End

Previously slated to arrive this summer, Wipeout HD, Studio Liverpool's downloadable PlayStation 3 update of the classic hovercraft racing series, has been delayed.

"There is a specific technical problem with Wipeout that we have to solve," Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO David Reeves revealed to Eurogamer. "I can't go into details but it is a really, really tricky technical problem that no region has been able to solve at the moment."

Reeves further noted that "it is something that was just very difficult to get to grips with," but that he thinks the game "will come out before the end of the year."

I so desperately want to know what the technical problem is. Even though it would probably go completely over my head, a show stopping problem like this one sounds really interesting.

Maybe it would be like Good Will Hunting where some average schmuck like me solves the problem that nobody else could.

This was one of my main reasons for picking up a PS3....god I wish they'd hurry it up already!

Releasing this Fall/Winter with all the other big games coming is a terrible, terrible idea. Better be real cheap to compensate.

Well I love Wipeout and always wanted to race online. No-one of this ad-hoc psp bollocks. So this pisses me off. On the other hand its good because hopefully by the time it out the PS3 will be cheaper. After FFXIII going to Xbox I'm finding much harder to justify the hefty price tag.
