New Pikmin Game Confirmed

Nintendo is currently at work on a new entry in its gardening-inspired real-time strategy franchise Pikmin.

"We're making Pikmin," acclaimed designer Shigeru Miyamoto revealed at a roundtable discussion today, following a question about the franchises' future.

No platform or release date for the next Pikmin effort was specified, though the game's RTS and troop-tossing elements seem a perfect for the Wii.

Thus far, two Pikmin entries have been released, both for the Nintendo GameCube.

Was Pikmin 2 better than Pikmin? I liked the first one, but never finished it. It was a long time ago, but if I remember correctly I was put off by the time constraints in the game. Did the second one still have time limits or did that change? I'm thinking of picking it up to play on my Wii.

This is perfect. Hell I'm tempted to buy a second Wii because of this just because...and I know I don't need one! This is great news...I've been wondering what they'd be coming out with given that we've got Mario Galaxy and Metroid and Zelda already and this is an answer to that...I've been wanting something to look forward to on my Wii. Now we just need a new Kid Icarus game and maybe a 2nd new Zelda game.

Well if you ask me it's about freaking time!
Now why the heck didn't they announced it at the pressconf on tuesday? It's probably too early in the development..

This is awesome. Pikmin is probably in my top 10 games of all time (and that's quite some time... oi), and I only played it last year with the Wii's backwards compatibility.
