Rumor: Lost Planet Film Announcement Coming, May Be Penned by MGS Voice Actor
by Aaron Linde, Jul 08, 2008 2:30pm PDTCapcom may be planning a feature film adaptation of its snowbound shooter Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (PC, PS3, 360), according to several reports.
According to Joystiq, a source close to the company said that Capcom is planning to make a film-related announcement at next week's E3 Media and Business Summit which would involve someone "well known to gamers."
Meanwhile, veteran voice actor and screenwriter David Hayter recently revealed that a deal with multimedia firm Warner Bros. to adapt Lost Planet for the big screen is nearly complete, going by details provided by IGN.
Perhaps best known as the voice of Solid Snake in Kojima Productions' Metal Gear Solid franchise, Hayter served as scriptwriter on the first two X-Men films, as well as the upcoming comic book adaptation Watchmen.
The developer has previously expressed interest in bringing more of its properties to the big screen, with Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto noting that the company "want[s] to do with games what Marvel did with comics."
Expect more details one way or the other as E3 kicks off next week.
