Quake Wars PS3, X360 Arriving in Europe May 30; North American Release on May 27?
by Chris Faylor, Apr 15, 2008 8:00am PDTThe console editions of id Software and Splash Damage's class-based multiplayer shooter Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will hit Europe on May 30, IGN reports. Both are based on the PC edition that arrived late last year.
While publisher Activision has yet to specify a date for North America, several retailers--including EBGames and Amazon.com--are listing a May 27 release. While retailer dates are usually considered placeholder until confirmed by a publisher, the date's proximity to the European release gives it some credence.
Shacknews has contacted Activision for more information. Check back with us later this week for hands-on impressions of the console versions, which were ported to the Xbox 360 care of Nerve Software and the PlayStation 3 by Activision Foster City, previously known as Z-Axis.

QW offers dynamic multiple objectives, classes with serious functional differences, and the critical need for players acting in a support role acting in concert with the rest of the team. Console games tend to consist of 10 year old gameplay such as CtF, DM, Team DM, and Hold the Point. Just as Assassin's Creed, if you're gonna like it, you'll want the console version, QW suits the temperment of PC FPS fans. Maybe I'm wrong, but even on the PC the ET style gameplay tends to only attract serious players, and console shooters tend to be a bit more accessible.
