Sins of a Solar Empire Expansion Planned
by Aaron Linde, Apr 02, 2008 2:10pm PDTPublisher Stardock revealed that an expansion is in the works for Ironclad Games' 4X space strategy title Sins of a Solar Empire (PC).
Company president and CEO Brad Wardell told Game|Life that an expansion for the game would feature a fully-fledged campaign mode as well as new playable factions. Wardell could not specify a particular release date for the Sins expansion, but noted that it would arrive in the near future.
The title has enjoyed brisk sales since its early February debut, selling over 100,000 copies in just under a month at retail. For more on Sins of a Solar Empire, check out our review.

I wonder how creative they will go with the single player concept. I love the big long games, but wonder if they could go way over to the other end of the spectrum. Maybe something like the Smash Bros. style challenges, using a limited amount of resources to accomplish a specific mission such as nuking a planet, destroying a fleet, so forth.
The other factions seem very doable too. The game's mechanics seem pretty flexible and deep, yet only somewhat explored, with gravity, physics, damage types and more to factor in.
Does anyone know how modding friendly the game is?

Try Galactic Civ 2. It's single player only, but also a lot of fun. The gold edition can be had for $30, I think...
