Peter Molyneux Talks Possible Syndicate Revival
by Chris Faylor, Mar 19, 2008 11:08am PDTAcclaimed game designer Peter Molyneux has expressed a desire to someday remake Bullfrog's classic isometric sci-fi action title Syndicate.
"I really would love to redo a version of Syndicate. Syndicate was probably one of my favorites," he told Shacknews in a recent interview.
Syndicate was one of the many properties acquired by Electronic Arts when it purchased Molyneux's old studio, Bullfrog. Molyneux went on to found Lionhead, which was eventually bought by Microsoft and is currently developing Fable 2 (X360).
Molyneux also touched upon Electronic Arts' upcoming DS entry in the god simulator series Populous series, a franchise he helped create in 1989. "It has nothing to do with me," he noted. "I haven't seen it even."
Though the designer was clear that there has been no talk of reviving his past projects, including fan favorites Magic Carpet and Dungeon Keeper, he expressed optimism that he might revisit those franchises at some point.
"One day, I'm sure that opportunity is going to come up and I'd love to do it," Molyneux concluded.

My favorite mission was that motorcade one - I must have done it like 10 or more times, each a different way.
Syndicate wars wasn't bad - I think in Syndicate wars the persuaded citizens could grab guns lying on the ground so what you could do is get a huge group, arm them with those beam weapons and then pretty much you could insta-kill anything...except if you took out a flying car they had a nasty habit of falling onto your crowd of people and killed a ton of them.

Let's just forget about Syndicate wars, I know some people liked it but well you're all wrong.

God, there's nothing quite like walking your 4 little trenchcoats with bright orange hair nonchalantly down the street, hands in pockets, then BAM! each one whips out a minigun and lets loose on the target. I remember getting back to the dorms after my 8:30 class and firing up Syndicate, then skipping the rest of my classes to play for 10 solid hours, only breaking for caffeine and bathroom breaks.

Molyneux has about the same chance as anyone else to innovate upon the theme.
I Imagine a modern one as a mixture of Crackdown and Oblivion, leaning more towards crackdown. I haven't really played GTA but I imagine a bit of that needs to be thrown in as well.
That would be pretty awesome.

"Say you know the solution? Remake an old IP! Brilliant!"
Disclaimer - I'm not saying this is a bad idea nor am I mocking Syndicate, but simply the hypocrisy of this man.
