For some reason I can't figure out exactly how they arrive at the answer to this riddle:
While walking through a market on vacation, you notice a small stand selling cameras.
A camera-and-case set is selling for $310. The seller tells you that the camera costs $300 more than the case itself and that the case costs the price of the set minus the cost of the camera.
You decide you'd rather wait on buying a camera and opt to just buy the case alone. You hand the seller a $100 bill and see his eyes light up. Think fast now!
How much change should you be getting back?
The obvious answer is that the case costs $10 and the camera costs $300, but $90 isn't the right answer. >:(

I just wanted to put this out there for anyone who may be interested:
I'll be on the CBS Comedy "Welcome to the Captain" TONIGHT AT 8:30!!
The airing date was supposed to be locked in for March 3rd, but like always with this industry - nothing is certain.
It stars Raquel Welch, Jeffery Tambor, Franz Kranz, and Chris Klien. My scene is short but fun and I got to work with Jeffery and Chris.
If you guys have Tivo or DVR, check it out... :)

"Most of the Stardock games team is working on the upcoming 4X fantasy strategy game which will be turn-based and have turn-based tactical battles and support multiplayer. It uses a brand new engine we've been developing that allows players to zoom out and see the world as a cloth (Tolkien-esq) map or zoom in to see individual leaves on trees. The reason we've developed our own engine is so that we can have fine control on the hardware requirements. We want people with 5 year old systems to be able to play the game easily (and I mean play it VERY easily) but at the same time allow players with the latest DirectX 10 cards to get an incredible visual experience too. We'll open that up for pre-orders (which will allow users into the beta) probably by end of Spring."

Hola! We decided we'd try to help kick off your week with a Podcast for Monday morning. Here ya go:
"GDC has come and gone and Chris is back to chat about some of the cool stuff that he saw there. This includes Far Cry 2 tech, its dynamic systems, and the interesting steps the development team is taking to make a game with a message that’s not restricted or heavy-handed. We also talk about the LEGO Universe MMO and whether or not it could be the Wii of MMOs. Does the idea of pirates, dragons, and space all existing in the same universe sound exciting?
In “What We’re Playing,†Elizabeth sinks her teeth into No More Heroes. Chris is all about Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, and Mark begins playing the epic Lost Odyssey, gushes over The Club wondering why is no one playing this game, and lastly admits that he’s ventured back into World of Warcraft."

You've played and beaten the game. Now, watch your entire game experience played back for you like a movie. Playback would omit all your untimely deaths and reloads. What you'd have is a "perfect" run through where you are the hero/ine. Re-live your own action movie exactly as you experienced it.
I know quite a few games allow you to rewind / review action, but these are usually limited to a specific level or, say, the last couple minutes. There are also 3rd party tools that allow you to record your gameplay, but these (as far as I know) are limited to the vantage point the game is played in (ie. can't change the view on the fly in play back).
There should be several viewing options: 1st person, 3rd person, free float camera, & cinematic. With the Cinematic option, the game would choose the best camera position, movement, angle for playback. The key idea here is that it requires very little interaction from the viewer.
Clearly there are several hurdles to overcome:
> Storage of run-through data - how do you capture all the data necessary to create / replay the players game, essentially, in its entirety.
> Boring stuff in game - invariably, there will be things players do that don't make for good re-viewing (buying stuff, menus, etc.). the game would have to be smart to omit stuff that breaks the flow of the movie. another option is a highlight reel of sorts -- key moments in the plot/character development.
> Most suitable to FPS? - not sure how this would work with non-FPS titles or really long games.
I know there are some who will say that the length of games would prevent an option like this. People would never watch their replay. Perhaps, but with the length of games getting shorter and the quality of graphics surpassing what's on cartoon network, I think the idea of my very own HL2 Ep2 movie would be pretty kick ass.
What say you Shack?

I was particularly interested since I started classes a few weeks ago. They really didn't show any technique in this episode, more brutalness, and how hard they push you in class.

Unlock Hard Mode
Have a completed saved game file from Ninja Gaiden on your memory card or hard drive to unlock the Hard difficulty setting. Or, successfully complete the game on the Ninja Dog or Normal difficulty settings.
What the fuck kind of hokey bullshit is this? I pay fifteen bucks to get black and I get RESTRICTED on the game-mode? What the fuck? I don't want to play on normal! I just played through the ninja fortress and that shit is easy as fuck. Goddamnit. How do I trick this thing into giving me hard mode >:(

I'm coming along pretty well with development and resources now that I've found a few shackers to trade with. How long do you typically have to wait until you can build new colonies? At what point should I take emphasis off of new buildings and research and put it into a strong military?
