Coolio stuff of the day, Capture The Flag from 1983. Yep, 17 years old. Check these two ads [shot 1] [shot 2] that zahlman digged up from a very old magazine. The game offered 2 player split screen as well as a single player option, and was available on the Apple, Atari, Commodore 64, PC and the VIC-20.

Thank you! I\'ve been looking for this for soooo long. Had to laugh when I saw it was 92k My Win95 version is just under 2 megs and doesn\'t look any better. lol

Does anyone remember the game freeware Pyro? It was ascii character spilling gas and setting fire to rooms.I\'ve been working on an updated version of it and wanted to get the author\'s permission. However I haven\'t seen a copy in years and have no idea who wrote it.

I see some people were too young too remember what the atari 800 and 800xl sytems were.. first off the atari 800 had 48k of memery, the 800xl had 64k(had to use bank switching to get to memory above 48k). Also the floppy drives held 90k per side(at least on the 810 disk drive). Any body here remember cuting a notch in the 5 1/4 inch disks, to write on the other side.. Heck I still have my atari 800, and still play a few of the old classic games on it, centepede, asteroids, miner2049...etc..

I still have the original box to my 800XL and it\'s got a huge red \"badge\" on it promoting how it has an incredible 64k of memory! LOL

#13, I was occupied for the longest time with the original Hardball on the Atari 800 XL (among many other things, including learning how to program). Little did I know the addiction that would lead to ... after I got my first PC some time later, I got Hardball III (the latest and greatest at the time) with the park and MLB player expansion packs and my friends and I proceeded to have a full season playing every game for all our teams. It took us over a year. :)

Jeez, I remember playing that game on our Atari 800 with a wopping 128K of RAM. We got rid of the cassette \"drive\" and got a 360K 5 1/4\" drive that same year too. About a year later, we got the 800XL with Basic in the ROM. Just hold-down option and turn on the computer, and there you were at the READY prompt. Oh yeah, this one had a whopping 256K of RAM.

#21, a looong time ago I did something similar but much lamer. At the time, I had a good grasp on 3D transformation math stuff (thanks Abrash and Graphics Gems) and wrote a 3D experiment in gw-basic (gasp) which was 2player over a serial link. The lame part was that the \"graphics\" were drawn in text mode using ext ascii. Later (using TASM), i added to it by dynamically changing the charset as needed to smooth out the lines and such.

God... so much wasted time.
