PSP Dev Tool Prices Halved
by Nick Breckon, Feb 04, 2008 8:35am PSTSony subsidiary SN Systems today announced a 50 percent price reduction for its PlayStation Portable development tools. The company will also cut its support fees by half.
Development tools include basic requirements for game creation, allowing studios to both compile and test code on a specific platform.
Sony recently announced that it expects to total 13 million worldwide PSP sales over its 2007 fiscal year, which ends in March.
PlayStation 3 development kits were also recently discounted, with Sony reducing the cost by nearly half last November in an effort to make the third-place console more attractive to penny-pinching studios.

I think you mean to make their kits cost-competitive. The PS3 Dev Kits originally cost over twice what a 360 Dev Kit cost and four times what a Wii Dev Kit cost.
