S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Prequel Gets Simultaneous Steam Release, New Screenshots

Valve announced today that GSC Game World's S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (PC) will be made available as a digital download exclusively on Steam, and unveiled a handful of new screenshots of the upcoming standalone prequel.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is tentatively scheduled for simultaneous retail and digital release later this year.

Overall, STALKER was a decent game.

If they fix the annoying, time consuming running back and forth between locations, remove some of the frustrating mission bugs, and generally tidy things up, I'll definitely enjoy Clear Sky.

I hope it's more opened up in regards to area then STALKER was, while I enjoyed it to a great degree, some of the levels were too confined in exploration abilities. I also hope the endless backtracking is removed or atleast offset by a vehicle implementation this time.

Quality and realism of the lighting is truly phenomenal. Same was true of the first game, since it was one of the few games that managed to soften lighting without resorting to the horrendous atom bomb bloom that so many titles resort too.

wow...it is REALLY hard to see guys in that map. I am all for some realism, but with the difficulty of using weapons in the first game, those environments are going to be brutal.

I never finished the first one since the performance went to crap as soon as I entered the sewers. No matter what I set it on, I just could not get a playable frame rate.

Pretty game though.

Fingers crossed that multiplayer is a massive improvement after the last installment . There was so much potential in Shadow of Chernobyl but failed to bring in a decent amount of players

This is looking good. Apparently they've also added the ability to repair equipment which was one of my complaints of the game. Can't wait to play this one.
