Konami Denies Metal Gear Solid 4 on Xbox 360

As I stated before, this Freeze idiot used a PR letter that was also fake. It claimed Bioshock was coming to the PS3. He simply changed the words Bioshock for MGS4 and said it was from Microsoft. It is a word for word copy. The original Bioshock letter supposedly came fromn a Sony rep. He copied the letter word for word and published it on his site saying it was from Microsoft and provides tacit acknowledgement of the MGS4 story he made up. How reliable can his so called 'reporting' be?

Publishing rumors doesn't rub us the wrong way. If it weren't for sites publishing rumors, there wouldn't be much for most sites to talk about J. There really only are a few things that will rub us the wrong way: publishing content given under NDA, getting/publishing confidential information from people who are under NDA, invading/hacking systems where confidential information is housed without permission to gather information, making false/racial/sexual/inappropriate personal attacks, deliberately publishing false/misleading information, you get the idea.

As for retailers/employees/partners intentionally leaking information, we pay rather close attention to how/when those occur. If it happens that one site happens to get regular access to confidential information, I end up getting bombarded with questions from around the company about the relationship we have with the site, with what kind of access we're giving the site, etc. Not pleasant for my team, especially because we're doing everything we can to help community, not limit their access in any way.

I appreciate the note. I certainly will share everything I can, and I'll often rattle enough cages to get to an acceptable answer. In this case, there's really nothing we can say other than the obligatory "no comment."

I can't decide why exactly xbox360 owners are so into this rumor. I think it comes down to one of two reasons.
1) They really really love MGS, but not enough to buy a PS3.
2) They really really hate the PS3, and MGS4 is just a convenient reason to mindlessly spout why there is no reason to get a PS3.

1) Seems strange since MGS4 is hardly the only good game coming to or already on the PS3.
2) Is sad because those people are really missing out.

I have no idea if the game will ever come to the 360, and I really don't care since I'll get it on the PS3 anyways instead of waiting.

You know, I bet Konami is getting really tired of quashing Metal Gear Solid 4 rumors at this point. The PR team would probably throw a gala event if the game were ever announced for the 360, simply to celebrate the fact that everybody would finally be shutting up about. Konami PR's Michael Shelling, who I am sure would look amazing in a tailored tux, responded to our own inquiries with the following:

"For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game."


That is straight from Konami by name from a direct inquiry from Kotaku. End of story.

Is MGS4 coming to regular XBOX too?

I haven't upgraded yet.

Honestly I do not see how Konami would have anything to gain by announcing it was coming to 360 until a while after it came out for the PS3. Hell they might even have to worry about those nuts who say they will not buy the game now because it was multiplatform.

I would not be surprised if the game eventually came to the 360, but I also doubt these rumors have very much basis in fact at this time. They just seem like really good guesses (a guess I would even be willing to make).

Don't all of these claims start on "little known fansites"?

"there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game" usually means "we have been working on the port for months but we can't tell about it because Sony would get mad at us"

No suprise,, that would be like Gran turismo would hit the 360.. aint gonna happen in a million years, same with Metal gear.

It doesn't take a business degree to realize it's bad business to talk about a future product that will sap sales from a current product . We've seen this 1000 times before in all types of business.

The question to be asking is what incentive does Konami have to not publish this title on as many platforms as possible?

I would be stunned to see this title stay exclusive to the PS3 unless Sony saw to it with such an incentive.

Even if they are gonna make a 360 version, they won't admit it. Sony is probably afraid that if word got out, it wouldn't sell units if people knew they could wait and have it on the 360. Or it could all be bullshit and just a ps3 exclusive.

95% of the PR work must be spent disputing random crap that blogs pull out of their asses.

It's impossible that this game will meet all of the expectations placed upon it.

The comments should somehow refresh without having to refresh the page... that would be sweet... Ajax can make this happen... shacknews staff make it happen :D

I'm sure they're too busy cranking out enough polish on MSG4 that it will blind you if you stare it for more than 5 seconds. I'd like to see a 360 port of this game but I'm not holding my breath.
