ShackCast 24: Duke Nukem Forever, C&C Tiberium

Related Topics – MMO, Podcast, Shackcast

Duke Nukem Forever and its teaser dominated the news this week, and so it kicked off ShackCast 24, but there were plenty of other topics for Chris Remo, Steve Gibson, Chris Faylor and Nick Breckon--the announcement of Command and Conquer Tiberium (PC, PS3, Xbox 360), low sales of Unreal Tournament 3 and Crysis, Jerry Bruckheimer and his MTV-funded game studio, the possibility of a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. MMO, and more.

As usual, this is all capped off with reader mail. Don't forget to send in your questions and comments about video games, the Shack, or the ShackCast to shackcast@shacknews.com! Even if your name isn't Pendergrass!

  • I like this podcast. I'm looking for more gaming podcasts and this is probably my 2nd favorite at the moment.

When I listen to the podcast I feel like Remo is trying very hard to run the podcast, to a point where he doesn't sometimes comes off as a jerk. When (i forgot who) was talking about his first memory and Remo responds with "What the hell does that have to do with gaming?" He really should had listened to what the topic was and then he wouldn't had asked, but then coming in like that just sounded like a ass.

Remo used to say "moving on" way to much, the pacing of topics has become more organic. That being said the rest of the crew seems pretty aloof at times, like they got dragged into a monday morning status meeting.

It sounds bad, i really do like the podcast. I hope this criticism doesn't discourage you but helps improve the show.

  • I think you guys are overstating the Crysis sales. Not sure if you've kept up with the real numbers but the close to 90K units they sold with just two weeks on store shelves is pretty good. With a week and a half Bioshock sold 77K units and Bioshock while a demanding game is no where near as tough as Crysis.

Not to mention, this is still the #2 selling game on the PC. One area where the PC benefits a lot I believe is that publishers don't have to pay a certain amount to publish the game, right? Unlike the 360 or other normal consoles where Nintendo or Microsoft or whoever gets $10-15 per game sold?

Here are the top 20 selling games for those interested.

    1. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Activision - $49
