Independent Australian developer Auran has been forced to let go much of its staff as the result of financial instability, according to a report by Angry Gamer.

The article cites an anonymous source which claims many layoffs have already taken place, with several employees seeking to migrate in the aftermath to Melbourne-based studio Tantalus.

Auran had recently released the player vs. player-focused PC MMO Fury, in addition to Battlestar Galactica (PC, XBLA), a budget title based on the hit television show. According to the source, Fury development may be continued by a Chinese studio.

"Fury was a financial disaster, it lost Auran a lot of money," said the source.
