Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 1.1 Patch Released

The first Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare patch has been released, updating the retail edition of the recently released shooter to v1.1. The 1.5mb update fixes an issue where ranks and stats would reset if players went from a non-ranked to a ranked server. Rank lost previous to the release of the patch will not be recovered.

So do you need to download this if you have the Steam version? I tried running the patch, but it says it can't find mss32.dll or something like that

I wish they would patch it so that PunkBuster would go away when the game is exited. I saw it was in my startup folder so I removed it and stopped the client in Task Manger. Now I can not play online :(

Oh well, I have not had any other issues so it looks like the game was actually finished when it shipped.

this is one of the main reason why I don't buy multiplayer games in steam which have non steam versions.

Patches sometimes don't get as fast as one would one i=on steam. That and also the possibility of no be able to play your legally bough game if you lose you r internet connection for some reason.

Don't get me wrong I really like what I'm seeing in steam later years but still Ill like that they seriously improve offline playing and non valve game patching.
