Namco Bandai Encourages Wii Fitness Lifestyle Through Active Life: Athletic World
by Chris Faylor, Sep 19, 2007 10:46am PDTNamco Bandai today announced the latest entry in the Wii's fledging fitness genre, Active Life: Athletic World. Utilizing Wii Remote motions in conjunction with a custom eight-sensored mat controller, Active Life's activities include white-water rafting rowing, mine cart racing, and rope climbing. In all, it's said to feature more than ten different mini-games and will keep detailed statistics of player's progress and achievements, along with offering several two-player modes that can be played on a single mat. "With a wide assortment of timeless games that everyone can enjoy as well as cooperative and competitive multiplayer elements, Active Life: Athletic World is sure to get the whole family off the couch and into the fun," said Namco Bandi executive VP and COO Makoto Iwai. "By combining the motion-based Wii Remote and a custom gaming mat to create an entirely unique gaming experience," Iwai continued, "Active Life: Athletic World delivers unprecedented interactivity as players use their whole body to take control of the game." As with Nintendo's own Wii Fit and its corresponding pressure-sensitive Balance Board, Active Life: Athletic World arrives in 2008.
