Stranglehold PC Demo Released

The demo does not work. I keep getting the blue screen of death. I have checked other forums and I have seen how many people get various problems with it. I suspect that the finished game will be the same and have therefore cancelled my order from Amazon. If Midway want to sell games they should test the demo first to ensure people can actually play the game.

The game locks-up and turns off my monitor. As expected, from the crappy PS3 demo plagued with other (although not deal-breaking) issues comes a cruddy PC port.

Hey guys, does anyone know how to change mouse to inverted? That's the only thing I cared about. Previously a guy told us how to play the game on a higher resolution ( 1600x1200 ), and also to get rid of the advertisment trailer when you exit.

So all I care about now is inverting the mouse.... anyone know?
Console commands, etc , or how to even get to the console.... because the settings will not let you save them so they are kind of useless.

I hope to get some help soon, because my mate brought his computer around, and he played through the demo having fun... he doesnt use inverted mouse =/.

This is a pretty shitty demo if you ask me. Could be a good game, I don't know. I couldn't get into it because frankly it forces you to use a specific control scheme. You can't change it and I like to play games on my PC the way I'm used to. I don't like to be forced to play a certain way. Consoles are one thing, PC is completely different. Also the game had some hiccups on my system and I can't change that either. Literally you load it up (after downloading 2 fucking gigs) and the only option you get is Play or Quit. For a PC game, that's pretty fucking retarded, if you ask me.

Some cool effects, lots of style, but from what I played, it's pretty much a poor man's Max Payne. Not too keen on the game going into auto slow-mo for me. I'd rather do it all manually like Payne or FEAR. You get the option to do manual here too, but the auto pretty much supersedes it making manual pretty pointless. Auto is also pretty chaotic - flash your cursor close to a guy, slow-mo enables, but what if I didn't want to, at that point, shoot at the guy or my cursor was just passing by for camera reasons or because I'm trying to do something else? Auto.. then off. Pretty annoying especially when you have dudes all around you.

I wouldn't bother purchasing this for the PC especially if you can't get options for controls and graphics, etc. Even for 360, I would say this isn't really a must have. Well not at full price anyway. Could be fun for 50% off. Where the fuck is Alan Wake? Lets get this shit done so Take2 can throw a shit ton of moneybags at Remedy to do Max Payne 3. :(

Game just stops responding, I don't care enough about the game to try and figure it out, update drivers etc. Bleh

To remove the annoying advertisment movie at the end of the demo just rename/remove "intro_Attract_Loop.bik" from "movies" folder.

1.97 gig DEMO? Fuck that noise, besides, this game didn't look too hot on consoles either. I'll just go replay Max Payne 2.

This is the first demo of the "new generation games" that i won't download it for his size. 2 freaking gigs, and surely it's a short demo.


Also, the game doesn't interest me too much, so perhaps that's why it's "too big".

How good the control for PC considering this is a port?
I'd much rather play it on kbd/mouse instead of gamepad.. But I already played thorough the 360 demo..

This thing is fricken pissin me off, i can't change the resolution of the game/ increase graphx. and i'm sure that my comp can run in in full resolution because i was running bioshock in full.

So....whats it like? Any 360 owners? I'm not downloading 1.96gb without some sort of idea here. :o

I can't find a way to change the resolution. There's an option in there for TV Type? Holy shit, it forces you to watch a 3 minute long gameplay footage when you try to exit the game, it won't let you skip it. I couldn't save my settings I changed, when clicking on Save and Exit, it gives me game tips. There's a folder in the game folder for dynamic advertising.

Boy, I've seen some shitty console ports, but this one takes the cake.

Repost of my 360 impressions of the full game for anyone interested IN REPLY. And, now that I have beat it, I do find myself going back to the cool "scenes" and replaying them different ways, trying to do each shootout with as much style as possible. I love games that allow that type of play.

Ok, what's with the redist. C++ thing (or whatever) that has been in the last few demos I've installed? It was in QW:ET, this one... and at least one or two others.

Why do I need to keep installing this?

If this is anything like the 360 version, the demo is actually quite long, and the environments are interesting enough that you won't mind playing through it again.

The gameplay is somewhat like Max Payne due to the bullet-time but the similarities stop there. It really is a treat to effortlessly pull off stunts and smash virtually everything in the environments.

All I'm going to say is that after playing the 360 demo I am now more cautious about standing underneath any window A/C units. :p
